Stockholm calling

How ridiculous to call the site “eye candy for the style hungry” without featuring Sweden. I’ll spend 10 days in Scandinavia starting from next Friday. I’ll be based in Stockholm and might go to Oslo or another port of call in the Kingdom of Style. I am wholly convinced it’s an absolutely key style destination – even many Swedes have told me they all dress the same. I want to check it out myself. Superfluous to say I’m really excited about trying to talk Svenska.

  11. Anonymous says:

Ok, I guess you’ve noticed by now that swedish people can’t spell in English…and I think you’ll see that most people dress alike in winter time, you should have come here before the snow!

  12. Caroline says:

Good choice, the Swedes got style! I think you definitely should stop by Oslo aswell, it would have been awesome to see your pictures from this city. Or even spot you out shooting! I guess I’ll have to bring my camera 24/7.

  19. Anonymous says:

You do realise that oslo is not in Sweden (the Kingdom of Style)?

  20. dévisageur says:

    Thanks for being so warm!

Victor: I use a “new economy model”. Or if you prefer, I work like Skype or Trendwatching.com. My main “product” (this blog) is free and behind I have paying services (I sell some streetstyle shots to magazines, I cover parties and do some other projects.)

Madelene: I’ll start with the Vice Party on Friday and then I’ll figure out.

Shittyweekend: I’ve already been in Malmö and Lund for one day. Some Swedish friends in Paris learned me some vital words.

Last anonyme: sorry for my ambiguous wording.

Visiting Malmö and Gothenburg, why not…

  21. Linnea says:

It feels like everybody knows you here! =)

  31. . says:

Ah, bienvenu! Il faut que tu visite le “södermalm”. most people who come to stockholm go to the city center (around central station) only, you should check out the other parts of the city center, the south in particular. that’s where you’ll find more interesting styles and not just the usual h&m uniform. (although h&m do have good things, not trying to be snobby!)

  32. Børre says:

    Velkommen til Norge!

  33. Emelie says:

welcome to sweden! svenska är inte så svårt (swedish isn’t so hard ;)) promise to come to gothenburg one day or two, we’re sooo much better here than in stokholm ;D

  36. Mikko says:

Stockholm is so boring, no variation at all, everybody looks just the same. Gray, black, brown… I believe things are better in Oslo, Helsinki or even in some small town outside Stockholm.

  37. Christina says:

Wohoo! Can’t wait for you to arrive! You’re a big celebrity around here ;) I admire your work and am a true fan. Hopefully you’ll love Stockholm! (I hope I bump into you!)

  50. walkin', talkin' says:

heey, give swedes a break, swedes!
We aren’t all the same! We’ve got lots of styles, don’t be so modest!

There’s the hip-hoppers, the fashion slaves, the chill-styled-people, the ladylike style, the snobs, and the söder style (my personal fave).

FACEHUNTER: make sure to visit SOFO (söder= southern part of city)for the most interesting and neat style.

    ENJOY YOUR STAY!

    :)

  51. Alexandra says:

darling, if you would like to see yourself how the beautiful swedish people dresses the same go to South of folkungagatan, a.k.a sofo. you will not be disappointed, that i promise you! instead you should stay in paris and send me some love from over there!

kisses from the north of sweden

  52. Niklas says:

Go to Hornstull in Stockholm, Ask someone where the “weekday-gänget” lives, ok?

  53. Jacob! says:

Key areas: the Drottninggatan/Kungsgatan intersection and, not far from there, the subway entrance at Sergels torg (T-centralen)

  54. Emma says:

Välkommen till Stockholm jag kommer vara ute 24 timmar om dygnet för att leta efter dig :)

Welcome to Stockholm. I’ll be out 24 hours a day searching for you :)

  55. angelica says:

Stockholm is indeed a glorious city! Some good-to-know-phrases and advice from a born-and-raised swede:

Ursäkta.. – Excuse me (people here can be pretty damn rude and expect YOU to apologize for THEIR bumping into you)

( ) – (silence)=nothing, is what you should say when you sit down next to someone you don’t know on the subway, if you talk to a stranger he/she’ll think you’re drunk or wanna get laid

hej, får jag fota dig? – hello, may i take your picture?
varför? för att du är fin! – why? because you’re pretty! (and you might wanna add, “no i dont need you to take your clothes off” you’ve heard about swedish girls haven’t you?:P )

that’s enough for now. you want more lessons or you plan to swing by Växjö (to check out how we students dress) and need someone to take you out and about, let me know!

otherwise, hope you’ll have an excellent time. Swedes can actually be quite nice, what you give is what you get and all that!

    so long

  56. marius says:

    see you in oslo yvan.
